How do I read my WM bill?
Summary
Understanding your invoice is key to managing your account and avoiding late fees or service interruptions. Below is a guide to help you read and interpret each section of your bill.
Section A: Account Information
This section, located at the top of your invoice, provides key billing details:
Customer ID and Customer Name: Identifies the account holder.
Service Period: Indicates the time frame the charges apply to.
Invoice Date: The date the bill was generated.
Invoice Number: Identifier assigned to each bill issued to help the company and customer track and reference specific billing transactions.
Use this section to verify your account and billing period and ensure timely payment to avoid late fees.
Section B: Account Summary
This section is a summary of your account activity:
Previous Balance: Any unpaid amount from your last invoice.
Payments: Payments received since your last billing cycle.
Adjustments: Any credits or changes applied to your account.
Current Invoice Charges: Charges for services provided during the current billing period. For more detailed information about your invoice charges click here.
Total Account Balance Due: The total amount you owe, including any unpaid previous balance and current charges.
Section C: Detachable Payment Stub
Located at the bottom of your invoice, the detachable payment stub is designed for customers who prefer to mail in their payment.
This stub includes all the important information needed to ensure your payment is processed accurately, including your account details, invoice number, and amount due.
You’ll also find your Payment Terms, which outline your payment due date—typically 30 days from the invoice date
Section D: Details of Service
This section outlines the services provided and their associated costs:
Service Location: The address where services were rendered.
Description: Type of service (example: 96T MSW Residential) and all applicable fees and taxes will be listed here. These may include:
- Administrative or Franchise Fees
- City or Municipal Fees
- State Taxes
- Environmental Charges
- Any one-time request service provided
Date: When the service occurred.
Quantity: Number of units of frequency of service.
Amount: The cost associated with each line item.
